barely repressed rage

I sit in my nest virtually visiting interesting virtual spaces.
I assume my brain is fine.
Once out of the virtual and into the actual
Oh-oh
My brain is not fine.

Rage
Where I cannot point and click
Type and enter
Say something pithy
Click away

Where children whine
Irresponsible
Uncontrollable
With no gratitude, no appreciation, no patience
No way to click away.

There
Charged with mundane responsibility
Where charm doesn't work
What tool to use?
Only rage. Only rage in the toolbox today.
Rage is effective but for the wrong reasons in the wrong way.
A sledgehammer on a delicate mechanism.
Rage distroys both sides; the giver and the receiver.

Hide. Go away. Let it go.
This doesn't fix it,
But it doesn't destroy it either.
Hide. A good response? No. But better than the
distructive
alternative.

firstly, let me really honor your decision to post prose. my hat is off to you....

secondly, it is so connected that you would write about rage as that is where my head and some of my heart have been this last few weeks.

i am actually working on actualizing empathy in my life and letting anger go. i am reading eckart tolles book and he writes about the precious stone that is located deep inside us all. and if i can recognize the beauty of that stone, in lieu of most of the damp stinky earth that covers it, i am on a more spiritual plane. and truth is, if i have an encounter with you that leaves me with anger, and i walk away pissed, i am the one that really suffers. if i can find my way to empathy and seeing your human qualities, i walk away healthier and happier. but empathy is not usually my first stop.

thanks d- you have really caused me to think today.

we understand rage. and sadness. and despair. and fatigue. tired. tired today. to be burdened. to have to contain. to not release. we understand. be well. we love you.

I try to turn my rage into productive energy - like cleaning the house or doing yard work. It takes my mind off the rage - that does not mean that the person or situation does not get the clear message that I am pissed off.

Breath deep.

Anger (or its offspring, rage) is a secondary emotion. It is a survival response to a primary emotion, fear. It takes a long look to find the source. Can you name why the children's behavior makes you so angry? What would it mean to you if they apologized or changed their behavior? And why does it mean that to you?

If you can find the words for yourself, you can verbalize it to the kids. They need to know the "currency" which means love to you. How can they show you they love you? Tell them; they won't know unless you do.

I know that you understand they love you. But we all need outward signs of that love, and it manifests itself differently to each of us.

Have some chocolate, think about it, discuss it with Superman. And when you're ready, sit the kids down to talk.

Hugs to you, sweetie.

Yeah, I honor you for posting poetry as well. I can't get into the mindset to do that, and admire those who do. Secondly, don't direct that rage at me! :P

I love you so much.

I know you're afraid you'll worry me.

Well, maybe. But I'll get over it.

You are my darling wife, and I love you.

I love YOU. The YOU I know, that you sometimes don't.

I want you to be happy. Content. Satisfied.

If I could inject you with some of my HAPPY I would.

But I know it doesn't work that way.

I can't create joy in another.

All I can do is encourage its birth.

And hold you. Close and long.

And kiss your tears.

And love you.

And I do.

I try and stay away from reaching that level in my emotions. It reminds me too much, that I resemble my father's actions when I reach that stage. I sound and look just like him and I don't like the feeling or the look about myself. It is one of those negative emotionally, draining actions that always leaves me feeling worse for not being able to stay away from it. It isn't healthy for me mentally or physically, and I think you have found a way that may work for you by writing about it and defusing those emotions by constantly saying them in prose.

Here's wishing you only the best.

Bless you, dear Java. I think being able to see yourself this clearly and honestly is so healthy and brave. And remember, you're in a major transition period right now, and those are HARD. SCARY. CONFUSING. Be gentle with yourself when things are overwhelming.

As a side note, how much do we love Superman? It's nice you two can share poetry, along with so much else.
