And now for something I think is hilarious. I called my Mama tonight, since I failed to call her on Thanksgiving or the weekend that followed. She spent the holiday weekend with my youngest brother and his wife and kids. She reports that a good time was had by all. Evidently it is my brother's tradition to assemble his Christmas tree during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This is the second year in a row that Mama has been present for the process. She told me that she is their official Christmas Tree Fluffer.
I blame it on you, my dear gay blog buddies. I've been hanging with y'all enough so that my mind jumps to associations I've picked up from you. She said "fluffer" and I started to laugh. Then laugh louder. And harder. Until I could barely breathe. She didn't understand what I found so funny. It took me a minute to catch my breath so I could tell her that I know another meaning for that term. I said it was all your doing, and asked her, knowing from whence I came upon the knowledge, if she wanted me to tell her. She did, so I told her. I couldn't tell over the phone whether she was more amused or put off. I don't care. I had a jolly good laugh out of the whole thing, and I really needed a good laugh. And I have you, indirectly, to thank for it.
I love you all.

We love you too!
Love and XXX's back, Java!
[Imagine, your mother as 'fluffer' to the (porn) stars]
Okay, now I have tears in my eyes from laughing. I now have an image in my mind of an older woman, on a porn movie set, sitting in a chair, knitting, and the director calls out, "Margaret! Come over here and get Johnny Wad ready for the scene." and she puts down her knitting walks over and says while kneeling, "Wad huh? Are you related to the Augusta Wads?" and then does her thing.
God help me I'm a sick, sick person. And we love you too!
Hahaha I cant believe you told her..my mom would have passed out.,
You can't blame your mother-neglect on me, I didn't know what a fluffer was! LOL!
I love when I learn new words.... thanks for the laugh.
My eyes got big the first time I read her official title. (I learned it from these guys too.) But I would never have told my mother her faux pas. She's too much of a lady. I would have fallen over in a faint from holding my breath, trying not to laugh.
I have this sneaking suspicion that my mother wouldn't have to have the alternate definition explained to her. Ain't never gonna check to see, however.
Always happy to know I've contributed to your debauchery. Love you, Dear Java.
What a lovely lupine.
You all, seriously. As long as the world insists on using and reusing artificial greens, it will need people who are willing to accept the moniker of Tree Fluffer.
Have you EVER seen how horrible fake greens look after being crammed into storage for a year? Ugh.
Right back at you.
Wow, I can't believe you actually explained to her the alternative meaning of "fluffer"! How old is she, anyway? Glad that conversation gave you a hearty, much-neede laugh!
And my first reaction, after a rather loud guffaw, was to observe, "But that would hurt, wouldn't it? She get pine needles in her tongue, wouldn't she?"
I hadn't even gone there, but now I have the most horrible picture in my head. Thanks, Clint.
