Filipedulous

filipendulous
Pronunciation: (fi-li-PEN-juh-luhs, -PEN-dyoo-)
Meaning: adjective: Hanging by a thread.
Etymology:  From Latin filum (thread) + pendere (to hang). Ultimately from the Indo-European root (s)pen- (to draw, to spin), which is also the source of pendulum, spider, pound, pansy, pendant, ponder, appendix, penthouse, depend, and spontaneous. Earliest documented use: 1864.

This is the A.Word.A.Day word in my inbox this morning. How very appropriate.

Perhaps I've been navel gazing a bit too much. Or perhaps my life is currently in the shitter. Or a combination of both.

I'm not a fun person to be around these days. And I'm afraid I may have inadvertently insulted a friend. That hurts as much as anything else going wrong in my life right now.

Never mind. Move along. Nothing to see here, folks.

Maybe I need some lolcats therapy.

Good to 'see' today. Guess what word popped into my mind this morning when I was thinking about a blog post? 'Thread'!!! Then I saw you here and read your post on 'hanging by a thread'.
You have some powerful energy Missy!!
Best to go with how you are feeling lately. This time of year can be so overwhelming and sometimes beyond what we can do about it.
Now I guess I have to use the word 'thread'....there's no escaping now! lol
Good to hear from you, as always.

That would be: 'Good to see you....'

You’re going through an extremely tough time. It will get better. It always gets better.

I got into an email argument with my former business partner yesterday over a possible new project we were going to embark on. Some dredging up of 'old stuff' on both sides, and clearly button-pushing fun for both of us. I said something that really offended her. I've agonized a bit over it, but in my morning meditation, I saw clearly what it was all about, that it was tied to unresolved 'mom' stuff for me that I had never successfully finalized. Yikes. I hate being a pompous jerk to those whom I love. But then again, our relationship has always been somewhat filipendulous from the start :-)

Thank you for sharing your stories about your kids. I'm a gay man with no children who always thought I had had it rough growing up. Reading your daily adventures makes me understand differently. I have a friend and colleague who adopted a daughter who could be Diva's twin, though she is now 23. This helps me understand her much better. Thank you.

Oh, I do understand the inadvertent insult! I've done it on my blog, in chats (especially there, I hate that there is no intonation and inflection), and in person (where I can be a holy terror, but things are less couched).

I do hope that you can smooth things over. But I think given all that you're dealing with, anything short of a slap in the face (literal) would be easily forgiven.

Peace <3

This is for Badger Bear ...

I have a coworker who is a few years younger and works down the hall. He and his wife have never had any kids. She has health issues that prevented it. We have occasionally discussed our (very) different lifestyles, different largely due to the presence or lack of children. As he commented, one may have lots of children or lots of toys, but typically not both.

The other day, during the height of one of Diva's episodes, I stuck my head in his door and said, "Just in case you happened to forget to do so in your morning devotions, I wanted to remind you to thank a merciful God for your childless state."

He said, "What'd she do this time?"

Yeah. He knows our situation.

You need to clear your head. Go for a car ride. It works for me and Molly. Make sure you play Boston's "More Than a Feeling" and scream along to it. If you don't know the words, dive til you do.
