Are some people selfish bastards by nature? Are they born that way, and no matter what kind of teaching, training, or positive example is set before them they will always be selfish bastards?
Like any trait some have a propensity for it, others don't. I think it depends on the upbringing as to whether they give into it or keep it under control.
Well... I think some people ARE just plain old selfish bastards. My father-monster was a capricious, cruel, selfish bastard. My sister and my partner's sister are the same way.
NO. Everyone has choice. Everyone. We can be who we choose to be. For some this takes more work to become accepting, kind, and affirming. But for each of us, it is possible, and our choice is to be or not to be. My opinion anyway.
My guess is that they are NOT born that way, but BECOME that way either because they were spoiled as children or they are manipulative as adults. Or both. For sure they are to be avoided.
the tougher question is what exactly are you asking...
i believe i have an idea, and i think it probably is something like am i allowed to be pissed off because someone i love is acting like an idiot.
i also know i have been wrong on many occasions...
i think everyone is a selfish bastard. some of us just become better at covering our tracks and have learned to include thoughts of others as a form of survival.
or maybe you were just asking the original question.
No one believes themselves to be as selfish as others see them. We can always find a good reason for our behavior. Selfishness can be trained out of a toddler eventually. But, with the exception of psychosis, I think those who hurt others with selfish behavior do it by choice.
I don't think that people are really born that way, more with ther personality that has the potential to shape into a bastard. After all, it is your personality that shapes how you react to things. Makes since to me.

Ah. The question behind the question.
People CAN make choices, but it seems some never choose to be anything but selfish bastards. Maybe one day . . . . .
Blessings for a new year, dear.

Yes. Bastards are bastards.
Well I hope not but sometimes we meet people who just seem to live for no other purpose than themselves.
There you go, talking smack about me again!
I think people are born that way...I have 5 sibling all of us raised the same...one is a selfish bastard...
yes is the answer to all your questions.

I think it's both. And no amount of telling them it's annoying will change them.
