New Post

I'd like to post something new here. However my thoughts are scattered and I don't have anything specific I can say without spending a lot of time and thought writing it all out. There are issues I want to address, places my brain is going that need some illumination. I don't want to spend the time doing that this evening. I have other things to do.

Superman and I are going camping next week. We'll be at a much higher elevation and a more northern latitude. Checking the weather forecast for the area I see that high temperatures are predicted to be a good 15 degrees (F) lower than what we've had around here this week. If the humidity is commensurately lower, I will be extremely comfortable. We are leaving the children here. I have high hopes for a lovely time.

We will not be entirely alone. It's a group camp out with a loose association of people with similar interests. Mostly it's Superman's area of interest. I sort of go along for the ride. You know how I feel about groups of people, right? We've discussed that here a few times. This association is big on togetherness. Camaraderie. All for one, one for all, I've got your back, etc. These are noble concepts. It works well for a group such as this. But, um, I don't feel comfortable that close to most people. And as far as I can tell, none of them is gay. You know how I'm all about the gay these days. So I am eager and hesitant to go on this adventure. I hate when I'm of two minds about stuff. It's complicated.

The best thing for me to do is put on my happy face, sit down with this lovely group of people, and find the similarities. I must get to know the individuals, learn what motivates him or her. I should reach outside my present area of concentration (some might say obsession) and connect to each person where our similarities collide. That would be the noble thing to do. That would be the grown-up thing to do. I should work on that attitude between now and Wednesday when we leave for the camp. Yep. I sense a need for chocolate. I'll add that to the list of necessities for the trip.

Well, what do you know? I seem to have found something specific to talk about! That often happens when I open this application and start moving my fingers across the keyboard.

Happy weekend, everyone.

when all else fails, chocolate IS the answer!

have a good time. i'm trying to figure out a time the bf and i can go camping. there are so many potential great spots here near the water where you can fish, swim, paddle canoe, hang out and generally soak up everything.

Well, not just chocolate, though, dear. For the proper camp experience, you must do the full S'more thing. Marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers, camp fire.

You'll be so busy laughing at the chocolate smears on their faces, you won't care who they are. Plus, you'll have some, too.

And there'll be meteor showers!!

; )

Take your binoculars and aim at the southern sky at about 35 degrees (that's a little below halfway to zenith, maybe just over the treetops in the distance). In truly dark skies you'll see a star cloud, so filled with stars there's actually texture. That's the center of the Milky Way galaxy. If you can see small clusters of light, you've found two easily-seen nebulas: the Trifid and Lagoon nebulas. There are even balls of stars visible higher up: star clusters. The summer sky is jammed with things to see. Have a good time!

Camping sounds wonderful! Take good personal time to enjoy and refocus. We've got a storage locker full of every bit of camping gear necessary...now we just need to use it.

First, thank you for your thoughts and support.

Other camping stuff: a good book, bug spray, a deck of cards, comfortable shoes, liquor.

As to being in large groups; turn that fear into interest ~ just sit back and listen to people talk. There's no law that says you have to engage a conversation. Use your new found gaydar. I bet you there are a few gays in the crowd. Most importantly find time to have sex in the woods! That always lifts my spirits.

(((((hugs)))))

You will do fine, just remember they are probably as afraid of you as you are of them.

I always say if you are going camping with a group, pick the slowest runner to make friends with, the reason being if you happen to run into a hungry bear, you only have to out run the slow poke and not out run the bear! XD

cooler can always be a good thing in august. chocolate is a good thing everyday. as for gay, it may not be the end all-be all. have you thought about leaving room for something really wonderful to happen?

Well, I hope you have fun! I'm a lot like you when it comes to group situations. My family kept trying to get me to go this party or that, and I kept refusing. It reached a point where they would no longer take NO for an answer. I went begrudgingly, and a had a blast. I'm sure you will too.

Ah camping. I am glad that my other half never suggests that. I am NOT about being outside, ever. I hate it when you have to be outside eating and bugs are flying all around you. Some folks like it, though. Me, I need an AC. I am with you about groups of people. I tend to be the quiet one and let someone else do all the talking. I am trying to be better, but it is hard. But have fun!

One can always balance the interactions with the group with down times for naps, and other things like reading etc. Most people will respect your space when you excuse yourself for some down time. Hope your adventure is pleasant, and some shared time with Superman won't do you any harm. ;-)
